How Ozone Is Produced
Ozone (O₃) is not mined, harvested, or derived from any animal or plant material. Electrical energy generates it on demand from ordinary oxygen. The most common industrial method is corona discharge. Dry air or concentrated oxygen passes through a high-voltage electric field that splits oxygen molecules (O₂) into single atoms, and these recombine with intact O₂ molecules to form the three-atom ozone molecule.
