Built as a wiki, not a blog.
Vegan Wiki exists because there is no neutral, comprehensive, data-driven reference for vegan brands and ingredients. What exists are lifestyle blogs with top-10 lists, affiliate links, and opinions. We built the alternative.
Our model is straightforward: structured data, verifiable sources, no advertising, no sponsored content, and no lifestyle angle. If a brand is owned by a company that tests on animals, we say so — without drama. You decide what to do with that.
The goal is to become the Wikipedia of vegan product data: a neutral reference anyone can consult, in any country, in any context — whether they're a committed vegan, a flexitarian, or a researcher.
Our operating principles
These are not values statements — they are operational decisions that affect how we build and maintain the database.
Neutrality
We present data without advocacy. You won't find emotional essays here — just structured facts. We don't tell you what to do with the information; we give you the information.
Global Coverage
Most vegan resources are built for US or UK audiences. We actively prioritize availability data for Europe, the Balkans, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Oceania.
Transparency
Corporate ownership matters. We track who owns what — because a fully vegan brand owned by a company that conducts animal testing is a fact people deserve to know.
Community-Maintained
No team of researchers can keep up with 5,000 brands. Our Submit system lets you flag formula changes, new certifications, and ownership updates in real time.
Want to help maintain the data?
The database grows through community submissions. If you spot an error, an ownership change, or a missing brand, submit it.
