How curcumin is made

Curcumin is obtained from the dried rhizome of the turmeric plant, Curcuma longa, a member of the ginger family cultivated widely across South and Southeast Asia. After harvest, the rhizomes are boiled, dried, and ground into the familiar yellow-orange spice. The food colorant takes one more step.
